Heart Chakra :: Anāhata

Is your heart chakra in balance?

Located in the centre of our chest in line with our heart, this energy point is the centre of our deep bonds with all that surrounds us, responsible for our feeling of love, respect and compassion. In Sanskrit, Anāhata means “unhurt, unstruck, and unbeaten”.

Overactive Anāhata:

If our heart chakra is overactive we may feel ruled by our emotions, unable to control them and let go of past pain. We may experience a lack of boundaries in relationships, accepting others without discernment and tolerating too much from to the point of neglecting our self worth. ‘Are you saying yes to everyone and everything, even if it does not benefit you at all?’ This can all lead to losing our sense of identity and self respect.

Under active Anāhata:

An under active heart chakra may leave us feeling unworthy and unloved, disconnected with those around us. We may feel a lack of empathy, thinking of ourselves so much we would class ourselves as selfish. Forgiveness and trust does not come easy. Naturally, we’d rather keep ourselves at a distance from anyone else.

Balanced Anāhata:

When the heart chakra is balanced we flow with love and compassion. Feeling deeply connected and grateful with all that is around us. We are accepting of others and ourselves, quick to forgive and radiating with joy. We recognise we are part of something larger, interconnected with an intricate web of relationships through life and the universe. We feel whole, we are grateful.

Feeling Unbalanced?

Here are some things to try which will help balance your heart chakra:

  • Meditation - The Heart Chakra element is Air and it’s colour is green, sitting outside or taking a walk amongst nature’s greenery, feeling the breeze on our skin helps balance the heart chakra. You can also try listening to this 15 minute mediation music to help open up your Heart Chakra: Heart Chakra Activation and Balancing

  • Colour - Green/ Pink

  • Yoga - Specific yoga poses to help open and align the heart:

Cobra (Bhujangasana)

Cow Face (Gomukhasana)

Eagle (Garudasana)

Camel (Ustrasana)

Fish (Matsyasana)

Cat (Marjaryasana)

  • Music - Music brings people together, it can also help us bring ourselves back to balance. Drumming, singing and dancing, repeating mantras and chanting the corresponding sound to each chakra (in this case YAM) creates vibrations in our bodies, these vibrations help our cells work together in harmony.

  • Essential Oils -

Chamomile, Ylang-ylang, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Angelica, Marjoram, Hyssop, Lavender, Neroli, Melissa, Rose, Rosemary, and Frankincense.

  • Crystals - Using healing crystals and colours can also help us recharge:

Rose Quartz, Jade, Green Aventurine, Emerald, Green Tourmaline, Malachite, Rhodochrosite, Chrysoprase.

If you feel your heart chakra is unbalanced and would like us to create a specific piece of jewellery using these stones we would be more than happy to make something specially for you to match your intentions!
